France, 1949. Desperate to find a job, music teacher Clement Mathieu finds himself in a boarding school for troubled teenagers. There he sees what cruel "educational measures" the rector of this institution Rashan resorts to. The more Rashan bullies the boys, the more aggressive they become. Good-natured by nature, Mathieu is outraged by these methods, but he is unable to openly protest. But one day he, the author of numerous musical compositions, which he modestly hides in his room, comes up with a wonderful idea: to organize a school choir.
